SP Energy Networks own and operate the electricity transmission and distribution network in the south of Scotland and the distribution network in Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales. As the network operator they maintain and repair the electrical equipment and network assets that transport electricity to around 3.5 million homes and business.
SP Power Systems (part of SP Energy Networks) are currently working with the Energy Systems Research Unit within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde to capture future demand-side load profiles and understand their impact on the UK’s electricity network design, leading to updated design-guides & national dissemination via ENA.
This project is ongoing and being supported by the West of Scotland KTP Centre.
