At any one time the West of Scotland KTP Centre is involved in managing upwards of 40 projects involving our partner institutions and businesses all over Scotland and across the UK. You can find out more about our current projects below.

New Projects

Mahle Engine Systems UK

MAHLE Group ranks among the top three systems suppliers worldwide for piston systems, cylinder components, as well as valve train, air management, and liquid management systems. They are currently working with the School of Engineering and Built Environment at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Smarter Grid Solutions

Smarter Grid Solutions provides innovative smart grid control systems and power systems consultancy for power companies. They are currently working with the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde to embed new testing techniques in support of ongoing product development and sales into the rapidly expanding Smart Grid marketplace.

International Design Engineering and Services

I.D.E.A.S. have provided the Oil, Gas and Petro-Chemical industry with a centre of excellence for specialist engineering services since 1985. They are currently working with the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering at the University of Strathclyde to develop a capability in non-destructive testing using acoustic emissions for incorporation into a service tool for integrity measurement.

Community Energy Scotland

Community Energy Scotland is an independent Scottish charity providing practical help for communities on green energy development.They are currently working with the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde on the application of Smart Grid Solutions and demand management to enhance communities' ability to maximise efficient use of renewably produced energy.

Current Projects

Highland Colour Coaters

Highland provides galvanizing and powder coating. They are currently working with the School of Engineering & Built Environment at Glasgow Caledonian University to reveal knowledge about the phenomenon known as “gassing” and hence optimise production yield, quality and scope in powdercoating on galvanized steel.

Johnson Matthey

Johnson Matthey is a speciality chemicals company and a world leader in advanced materials technology. They are currently working with the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Strathclyde to develop and implement a Process Analytical Technology platform for measurements of key product and process attributes, sophisticated multivariate analysis, and modelling of inorganic material production.

SI Associates

SI Associates are an international management consulting firm. They are currently working with the Department of Marketing at the University of Strathclyde to facilitate the capture, management and exploitation of archived, tacit and emerging knowledge for enhanced operational and business development performance.

SP Power Systems

SP Energy Networks own and operate electricity transmission and distribution networks across the UK. They are currently working with Energy Systems Resource Centre at the University of Strathclyde to capture future demand-side load profiles and understand their impact on the UK’s electricity network design, leading to updated design-guides & national dissemination via ENA.

FMC Technologies Limited	Glasgow Caledonian	To develop advanced electronic and sensor instrumentation for incorporation into intelligent subsea hydrocarbon production equipment. Also to develop a hardware and software platform solution for data capture and monitoring in intelligent subsea hydrocarbon production equipment.
