An exciting opportunity for an Environmental Engineer / Technologist has become available to work full time on a 30 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP).  This strategic project is to aid Baxters Food Group reduce their environmental footprint and achieve best-in-class performance through changes and improvements to effluent treatment and the management of production processes. You will liaise with senior company management and will be fully supported by a team of academics at UWS.  As project lead you will gain experience and develop new commercially valuable skills and deliver real business impact.

This is a challenging project and if appropriate the successful candidate will get the opportunity to register free of charge for a Higher Degree (MPhil/Ph.D.). They will receive training from the Chartered Management Institute (level 5), work with senior company management to realise benefits to the business and apply their personal skills and knowledge and lead their own project in a business environment. A personal development budget is available to support the successful candidate.

The successful candidate must possess:

A relevant background in a science / engineering subject and a minimum of a MSc or higher in water / wastewater or process industry related subject.

Application requirements:

Knowledge and/or experience is required in some of the following:

Experience in the process industry, treatment plants and understanding of research and development challenges.
Knowledge of the waste management sector in UK and internationally

Essential skills we require as a minimum:

  • Numerical – understanding of experimental design, process properties and data significance, ability to understand and process data; apply process models and interpretation.
  • You would be expected to have a knowledge of water and water pollution control and the practical applications to wastewater treatment.
  • Well-developed Project management and research organisational skills.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy and to plan under own initiative and to work to tight deadlines.
