Glasgow Caledonian University and KTP by Dr Janette Wark

At Glasgow Caledonian University, we are proud to be associated with the Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme and to celebrate 40 years of KTP. On the 26th November 2015, we hosted our own KTP@40 event to showcase the University’s diverse KTP portfolio. GCU have grown their active Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) across diverse sectors such as Tourism, Energy, Technology and Manufacturing. Our KTP total has reached almost 60, bringing in over £5m grant funding.

I have been proud to be involved in the KTP scheme for over twelve years and in that time, I have helped businesses to access the expertise residing within our knowledge base, resulting in increased competitive advantage and improved productivity and profitability.

In return, GCU academics have benefited from working with businesses to develop business relevant teaching and research material and apply their knowledge and expertise to strategically important business problems.

At our KTP@40 event, businesses heard from current and past KTPs and academics heard from experts on how to start a KTP. We hoped that students would also view this event as a great opportunity to find out more about how KTP can help them to progress their career to become the business leaders of the future.
